Yesterday was Tanabata in Japan. (Here is my blog about Tanabata.)
But it was also Cool Earth Day in Japan.
What is Cool Earth Day?
Today is July 7th and it is “Tanabata” in Japan.
What is Tanabata?
You can read detailed expalanation of Tanabata in Wikipedia.
It’s not a holiday but it’s more like a festival.
It’s from the legend that the milky way separated two lovers and they are allow to meet only once a year, TODAY!
How tragic!! 😕
There are always food linked to holidays and festivals in Japan.
So I started to wonder,
What should I eat for “Tanabata”?
Jay used to do more cooking than me. I would wash clothes and dishes, clean house but cooking wasn’t just my thing. Jay enjoys cooking so it’s not so much stress for him. But I sometimes feel bad that he’s the one who always cook.
Then we deployed this solution for deciding “who cooks for tonight?”
Now I am doing more cooking. 🙁 but I can’t really complain because it’s a totally fair way of making decision. 😆
If you are married or couple who’s fighting about who’s in charge of doing boring house work, try this fun way to make decision daily basis.
How did we end up with an idea of opening our own guest house, Omoide House??
If I think back, one of the life changing events has occurred in Bergen when we met a German couple at the very first guest house we stayed.
The guest house was like a normal house with 3 rooms and can accommodate just three teams maximum. The owner stays at separate house.
When we were staying, only two teams including us were going to stay. Jay was quite nervous about having strangers in the same house. In fact, I was too. What if we end up with some maniacs??
It’s been a while since I wrote about my cats, Miya and Leo.
Since the DAY 1 when Leo came to our house, Leo and Miya have been staying in separate rooms.
We have 3 rooms in our house, one for Jay and myself, and one each for Miya and Leo.
We didn’t have much choice because Miya really didn’t like the idea of having Leo in the same house. Read about how hopeless it was in the beginning…
Things have changed, in a good way. 😀
It’s summer and summer is Sangria! (and also Mojito!)
I made my very first Sangria last night.
I have been taking lots of pictures of Miya and Leo for our Instagram.
Jay suggested the other day (when we went to Kamakura for Ajisai),
“Why don’t you buy a digital SLR camera?”
The next day I pressed the “order now” button on Amazon. 😆
I bought Canon EOS X7, the white one.
If you are Instagramer, I definitely recommend you get one of these.
Let me tell you why.
It has been decided that Harajuku Station will be rebuilt before the Tokyo Olympic.
It’s a good news!!
The other day, I said to Jay,
“I really want to start our guest house!!” 😥
Then Jay said,
